Oh wow, I read this last night and I was hooked from the start, just seeing how James would cope, now that Robbie knows about his illness, I'm so grateful that you filled a prompt that I had something to do with, and the results were amazing.

As for being a sick puppy :P, some of the head canons that I have come up with are tragic (*cough* brain damage *cough* blind and almost deaf *cough*) and its a relief to see that someone else also manages to come up with this stuff, although of course yours is much better written than mine.

But this was a brilliant story, despite how sad it was, because of their relationship (as someone who isn't over fond of Robbie/James) and how every one is so in character.

If you were ever to revisit this situation again, and we got to see how James is affected/coping in the future, you would have one instant reader right here :)
Thank you again :)

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it. (As much as one can like a story about chronic illness). My problem with writing is that I have to emotionally get into the situation, so if I'm writing a sad story, it's absolute hell on everyone around me. We went through a lot of kleenex here...

As one of the 'sick puppies' who partially inspired this wonderful story (I have no regrets!), I felt I should respond here on lj as well as over on AO3 - thank you again for writing this, and for all the time and effort you must have put into researching it. You really did get the balance between serious angst and sweet romance so perfect.

Your thoughts in your notes here about how James would cope with a prosthetic leg or bionic eye are really interesting to read, and I think you're probably right. I can certainly see James focussing on the science behind it all as a way of coping. I have to admit I'd be really interested to read your 'James is deaf' story, though I also completely understand your need to go and write fluff now - send them to Disneyland by all means, I'd love to read that too (the epilogue to your intriguing stripper fic, perhaps)! I'll look forward to reading whatever you do write next, and thanks again for this. Very well done x
