Do you watch Stargate SG-1? There was a great episode several season ago where some alien race had managed to slow down neutrinos. Jack, of course, called them Nintendos :D

Particle physics can be fun :)

I like sleeping. My bed is very warm :) Let's hear it for duvets.

I believe I've seen almost every episode, and my only gaps are in this season and last season. ;)

I forgot about the Nintendos, that was great! :)

I like physics, especially theoretical and quantum, but I don't have the math skills to do much with either. So I read the theories and try to extrapolate my own ideas from them. Maybe one day I'll assemble some of those, and demonstrate why string theory ought to be described as more of a mist in 4+ physical dimensions. (which, after all, can also be used to describe the movements of early hydrogen due to the effects of gravitation, can't it? I'm fairly certain that's how the formation of early stars and galaxies worked)

I still wonder why Michio Kaku went to the trouble of explaining the effects of additional dimensions, then simply assumed the ones we can't observe or measure 'collapsed' in some fashion. Couldn't it be that we just don't know how to quantify them yet? :)

Cute? How is the eighth color of the spectrum cute? Could the color of magic possibly be cute? I'm afraid I don't understand your meaning.

Hello,

Ran into you on fritters' LJ (I'm the one who'll gladly join you in your new sane republic). Looks like we share a few similar interests and LJ friends (I do like genetics, being a molecular biologist by training, and sci-fi, and star trek, though they're not listed on my bio) so I've friended you, hope you don't mind. :-) (And yes, I do use far too many parentheses when I type. Because I'm always forgetting to say something. *g*)

I've had my own parentheses heavy days. ;)

My interest in genetics is from an untrained point of view, meaning I've read about it, but I don't know a lot about the specifics. It's still fascinating anyway. It's like my interest in theoretical physics, though I've read more about physics than genetics.

There's plenty of interests not on my list that may be on yours (checking) or maybe not. Your list is tiny. I do like music, but I mostly just listen to whatever I like, and don't much care about titles or bands unless there's a lot they've done that interests me (like BOC and Rush).

I'll friend you back if you don't mind. ;)
