Gemma

This is my new addition Gemma (she came with the name!). She was on the brink of being put to sleep because no one wanted her. She is the quietest most gentle dog you could come across, although she insists on sleeping beside the bed I bought rather than on it!

Damn the greyhound racing industry which abandons lovely dogs like this because they're ( Read more... )

I adore greyhounds! The man I bought my house from had one that was fawn colored like Gemma, it was like a small deer, graceful, quiet, as sweet as can be and was the most well behaved dog I had ever seen. You'd think growing up in a kennel they'd have no manners and be like wild animals. But I thought it was so odd that the dog had never been up stairs and didnt know how to even get on the porch!

Gemma is proving to be very gentle and well mannered. I too am amazed that after the life she must have led just being in a kennel that she is so well adjusted. However, she did have some surprise issues with noises coming from the television. She stood wanting to welcome the person talking from the box. Now she just sleeps through it all. She even slept through fireworks last night.

Gemma is beautiful, and I think it's wonderful that you've taken her into your home and given her a secure and loving future to look forward to.

Well done!

Thank you. I'm not sure she's thinking so lucky at the moment after her desexing, but a bowl of dinner was very welcome.

She had not been fed properly, nor her teeth properly cared for. How did her previous 'owner' expect her to race if she wasn't looked after properly?

Any form of racing makes me sick.
