Kindle question

Question for you folks who own Kindles, especially the second version. Apparently the first version generated some complaints from users because page numbering was confusing. Has that been fixed with the second one? A friend of mine is thinking about getting one of these and she is curious about this. Anybody know what improvements were made

I haven't even looked at the page numbers. I track where in the book I am by percentage.

Is there a way to change that? As far as I know, percentage is the only option, which, I think, is why people get confused.
