On Self-Control

Aug 11, 2004 12:03

Diets, work schedules, finances, marital fidelity.....and just about anything else important in our lives requires self-control. Even the wild, seemingly random gyrations of the Rock Stars require precise muscle control and timing. Anything worth doing is worth self-control ( Read more... )

Woah.... Be careful with that whole diet thing. It's fine to want to get healthy and stuff, but don't fast all the time. Your body needs its fuel. Go exercise, and eat less, but still enough for somewhere roughly around the food pyramid (Which, I know, isn't what they go by these days, but it's still a good starting point).

Go find something you like to do... Like... Painting the house! (Hah... Sooo kidding)

... But, like I said earlier, get off your butt and off the computer and outside in the fresh air!! It'll do ya good.

If nothing else, take your enormous fat cat for a walk (Yeah, cats need exercise too. :P)

And... I can't stop myself....

"...but I was getting to where I was loosing my objectivity."

No, you weren't loosing objectivity, you were losing it. It didn't come loose, it got lost. :)
Just thought you'd like to know, 'cause you make that mistake very often.

Haha...

Yeah, exercise is part of my regimen. I've started back slowly, though. I either dislocated my shoulder or tore my rotator cuff, so I've had to careful about weight-lifting. I ride a stationary bike and walk the neighborhood pretty regularly. One problem a lot of people run into is trying to do too much too soon. They start out trying to run a mile and lift 500 lbs. and the next day they're so sore, they can't move. I'll be back down to my fighting weight soon, then I'll be that self-centered, ego-maniacal turd that we've all come to know and love.....Ha!

A friend of mine had told me about a diet plan "lean for life". She had lost 100lbs and has kept it off. I've watch many people do the whole roller coaster thing and such, and some unhealthy. But this one I like because it's a slower paced system which basicly helps retraine you and your body of things that you should be eating, hence not the side garden salad and the whole cake for desert..*G* But their books are set up in steps to work around each individual and help them through it all and after. So far this one I've liked.

Well, it sounds interesting...I wish I knew more details. How about the name of the book?

Anyway, thanks for the comment. My main struggle is getting off of my ever-expanding booty and exercising. Then I can eat anything I darned-well please. THAT's my biggest obstacle.

If you can find out the name of the book, pass it on.

http://www.leanforlife.com they offer different kinds of programs... i just picked up the first phase book at barnes and nobles, but they offer group support programs and also internet group things... a friend who has started it a few months ago is doing great w/ it even though she has been going thru some really stressful situations recently, and she has failed on many other diet plans that she has tried in the past....
