Comic Con (Day Five)

Jul 26, 2009 19:23

Can you believe it's over?
It helps that Bear's Farewell Apollo just came on...

Kelly and I slept in a bit because we both really enjoy that activity and we didn't have any panels we wanted to go to. We arrived around 11 and wandered the floor a bit. Went by the Official Pix booth the check on our best friends forever. Joined this time by Nicki Cline.

We then saw Richard Hatch again... because he's lovely and always at it...

We then decided we were hungry so we went to Cafe Diem in the Gaslamp district. It's funky inside... This juxtaposition amused me greatly

Lady Greystone is like "awww hell no"

The guy waiting behind me said, "After what happened to Juliet on Lost, I don't think I can believe in true love." I'm pretty sure he was totally serious too... I love Comic Con.

There was a Stargate on our table!! That's so cool.

And Caprica salads!

We then walked around the floor a bit more and decided to swing back by the California Browncoats booth to see if they had any more cool stuff we didn't already own... And what should we find there BUT NATHAN FILLION! Who you might know from Firefly or maybe Dr. Horrible Sing-a-long Blog! Also his new show Castle which you seriously need to watch because it's so good!

He's filming Castle right now, what the what is he doing in San Diego!? He had been tweeting all weekend about if he got 100,000 followers he'd go to Comic Con so I'd had a hunch he was going to show... The line was crazy but of course we got in line!

Yeah, that's Kelly and Mal Captain Hammer Castle NATHAN FILLION! WHAT!

He signed our comics for charity and I'm giving mine to Kelly's sister Morgan because she LOVES everything Whedon especially Nathan and she wasn't able to join us this year. And because I'm simply the best friend anyone could ever ask for.

Then Kelly had to fly away back to her home planet and I was going to go to Balboa park but then I decided to just walk around the floor more (thank the gods)

Got this photo of Mark Hamill looking intent

Saw Brent Spiner too but he was getting mad at anyone who took his picture without paying... so I stayed away, that guy's scary.

So I then wandered around collecting random free things. I think I'm going to have a comic con swag contest on here to keep your eyes pealed for that!

AND THEN I got a mysterious phone call from a CA area code so I didn't answer it but they left a message. So I wandered around a bit more and landed in the Stargate MGM booth to pack up some posters I'd gotten. So then I finally listened to the message. AND it was the Stargate MGM booth telling me I'd won something in their drawing! That's insane because I only entered once! But I'd won! yay They let me choose from a bunch of SG1 and Atlantis DVDs

I've just finished S3 on Hulu so this is perfect! yay

I then took the trolley back to our hotel to get my bag and who should be on there with me? Herb Jefferson, Jr! The original Boomer! awesomesauce

Comic Con 2009 has been an amazing success on so many levels and having Kelly there was so wonderful and now that she's been educated in the ways of nerdiness (although she still pwns me when it actually comes to comics) our interests match pretty well.

Bear's concert was my favorite part but seeing the lost episode of Dollhouse and the next Episode of Glee was really fun too. Collecting BSG actors really made me happy and feel quite accomplished.

My advice if you're thinking about Comic Con for next year? Don't be afraid to push through crowds of people to get that photo or autograph or place in line. Approach anyone and everyone. Regret doing something, never regret not doing something. And have fun. It's all about having fun. A positive attitude and genuine enthusiasm get you a lot farther than you might think.

See you all for Dragon Con in September!
