My PSN Plus Expired

I've had Plus membership on the PS3 (well, all of Sony's platforms, given it's shared nature, but primarily used via PS3) for years. Many years. I'd have to admit I spent far more money buying games digitally than I ever planned. I was going to spend about 40 bucks to "customize" the PS3 as it were the same way I did to the 360 ( Read more... )

I felt pretty much the same way after I switched from Xbox Live Gold to the free Silver. I never missed it at all. And I never even bothered with PSN Plus to begin with.

I'm actually a bit surprised that you were able to just let it lapse, as opposed to having to kind of jump through hoops the way I did with Live. Well, it wasn't all that hard to cancel it, but it was still an active process I had to take, since it otherwise would have auto-renewed.

I haven't given much of a shit about Sega for a while now. About the only thing I care about that's even remotely Sega-related is that they licensed Shenmue to Yu Suzuki and his own company so that they can make Shenmue III, since Sega clearly wasn't going to bother doing so themselves.

It's a simple process for me because Sony never had my credit card number. I use nothing but prepaid cards for either console, especially after Sony's epic fail with the plain-text-saving-of-customer-data years back. So when my 3 month card expired, they had no choice but to just let it lapse.

I do know how aggressive Microsoft is with preventing people from turning off Gold - although they had no choice either with me for the same reason when I had 1 year of Gold membership a while back. They had no way to continue billing me. I remember my father telling me about how hard it was for him to get them to stop charging his credit card after the free trial ran out for my little sister. To the point where they just let it keep going for a while. ie: microsoft succeeded in their little plan to keep charging.
