I apologize if this is a stupid question - I checked the FAQs and didn't see this addressed. It's my first porn battle so I want to make sure I do it right!
We just write to the prompts but not for specific people right? Or are we supposed to mention who prompted?

That's right. When the prompts go up on the website, they're all sorted by fandom and pairing, so it'd be hard to find out who gave what prompt! Sometimes people spot prompts left by friends, and want to fill those specifically as a little gift for their friend, so feel free to mention that, especially if you repost on your journal/blog/AO3, but there's no need otherwise.
Awesome - that's what I needed to know! I'll probably gift a friend or two, so it's good to know that it doesn't HAVE to be anon and only prompted. You rock - thanks for getting back to me so quick!
Profoundly silly question, sorry if it's already on a FAQ and I'm missing it: is it all right to start working on fics in advance during the prompt-posting period, or is this a "ready, set, go" thing when the whole list goes up? Obviously there's no surefire way to keep people from pre-gaming their fic-writing if they're dead-set on it, but I'd rather not commit a big faux pas, or get a late start if it turns out this is common practice.
Funnily enough, when I announced the latest dates, I mentioned that everyone got longer this year while we were prompt sorting to get a headstart on writing/drawing/viding. So if you've seen a prompt or prompts you like, go for it! (And it isn't a silly question at all!)
I'm sure this has already probably been asked somewhere before, but I'd like to know to do fills properly. Do all of the single word prompts listed next to the pairing have to be used in a fill or can I pick and choose which ones to incorporate in when I write?
I think I'll put the answer on the FAQ actually, because it will be on the fills page, but often people want to know before that go up (it helps if you want to make a head start!)
You can pick and chose. You can use one prompt word, two, all of them. You can use two different pairings and sets of prompts even, if you want more characters in your story. Any combination you can think of is fine. A few people look on it as a challenge to try to incorporate all the prompts for a particular pairing, but that's just a fun/crazy thing some chose to do.
Do you mean you want to fill some prompts from previous years? That's fine, but you should just post those in your usual posting places - they don't count as part of one of the battles. For the current battle, which opens on 2nd February, you can only post fills based on prompts left for this battle.
I hope that answers your questions, but if not, do say - I might have misunderstood.
I'm so frustrated! I want to post a work to the AO3 collection, and I know how to do that, but Porn Battle XV (The Ides of Porn) does not come up on the list of choices on the pull-down menu, and when I type it in manually, it tells me there's no such thing.
And yet it exists! Lots of people have posted to it already!
I think the issue is that the autocomplete isn't working for it yet, so it's a bit tricky if you try to post from your dashboard.
The best thing to do is go to the Porn Battle page, and post a new work to it directly, rather than posting from your own dashboard. Alternately, if you're trying to add a story to the collection retrospectively, you'll need to add it to PornBattleXV with no spaces, and that should work.
I hope that helps!!! And sorry it's proving frustrating - I'm putting in a help request with AO3 to get the autocomplete fixed, so that should help.
