Joe wants to get a new car. I've never actually owned a new car. Every car I have ever purchased was used. The closest to a new car I've had was when Joe bought a used 2008 in late 2009. He wants to trade that in and get a hybrid ( Read more... )

I wish I could talk him into a used Prius, but based on how he drives, the Prius isn't a good fit for him. A hybrid is only good if I can get him to drive it over our minivan.

We'll see how this all pans out.

I can't wrap my mind around buying a new car. Is there a reason he wants new instead of preowned?

Our choice of car all boils down to my husband. He wants something fuel efficient (the price of gas is killing us, and he's wagering it's not going down anytime soon), and while he's not opposed to used, here in the South there's not a lot of used hybrids, and most of what is available used are Priuses. He's done research, and a Prius would just piss him off. A hybrid is only good for the gas budget if I can get him to drive it over our minivan. We're looking at the Ford C-Max.
