Going veggie can slash your carbon footprint: study

Uh, and that's new news?

"New news" just doesn't seem to make sense as a phrase... does it, or do I just need to get some sleep?

The term new news makes sense, but is so baldly redundant as to seem nonsensical. In the term old news, old must be read as meaning former (as in my old boyfriend), or the term is oxymoronic (which might thus please you).

It would have pleased me very much, so next time I'll have to use the phrase "not old news" instead.

I am very skeptical about the claimed magnitude of the effect of going organic. In particular, I suspect that the IöW presumed that organic farming would produce the same yields in the same locations. If the yields to organic farming are lower, then reductions of some sorts of emissions will be offset (partially or otherwise) by increased emissions associated with additional transportation and so forth.

True, I often think such studies are analogous to attempts to measure coast-lines, since the exact outcome depends on how far you are willing to go in exploring the factors involved.
