Teen births and STDs spiked under Bush

But supporters of abstinence-based education said the report showed there was too little, not too much emphasis on discouragement of sex before marriage.

I AM SHOCKED. SRSLY. And of course, those same people are pretty likely to be pro-life too. HILARITY ENSUES.

I have to admit that I do have a little bit of sympathy for the idea that you shouldn't just shag whoever you feel like at any given moment. I've never been one for spreading my wild oats, because.. ugh, this is kind of embarrassing actually, but the way I figure, if you only do it with people you really care about, then it'll have more meaning as a statement and will help cement one of the bonds that you may really want to cement as much as possible. I absolutely don't think sex is "dirty" or anything, though - and if people don't care about the above, then they should go for it imo.

OTOH, forcing your morals onto people where nobody's really getting hurt is not cool in the slightest.

I know what you mean, how much I enjoy sex has always been correlated with how much I *like* the other person, and the strength of the connection between us.

(That said, I think the romantic idealism surrounding marriage & long term relationships is a huge rip-off that causes more harm than good.)
