That saying "Posession is 9/10th of the law" goes both ways... If it is legally "stolen" whoever has it is in trouble, regardless of who it is.

It's take a lawsuit. I would be reasonably likely to win, but it's not really worth it.

The trailer, on the other hand, has been reported stolen by the registered owner. And the $750 NOS cylinder head she took, I have my original receipt for purchasing it.

Of course, there are a lot of things here of hers that I am sure she missed in her haste to depart, and many of them she will want back, if for no other reason than to have them out of my hands. I'm hoping that a trade might be in order. Hopefully before the police come to get the stolen trailer, since John has admitted to me in email that they took it.

That should be "It'd take..."

I'm pretty sure the legal owner of a vehicle is the person whose name appears on the title, regardless of who paid for it or insured it. Didn't you previously say the titles were in her name?

I would have to sue her and get a court order to recover the vehicles that are titled in her name but are actually ones that were paid for, worked on, and agreed upon as being mine, yes. However, the other things she took, like the ramp and the cylinder head, I can prove ownership of; and further, the trailer is owned by a third party who has reported it stolen ( ... )
