I'm On My Way, I'm Making It...

Today I got the word from the rescue squad captain... I've done such a tremendously good job in my driving of the ambulance that I'm graduating out of my probationary period and into a full driver role. That means I get a radio and the remainder of my uniform (embroidered polo shirts, 5.11 EMS pants, and a jacket/windbreaker/fleece liner combo with lots of reflective trim and logos).

And in a month I begin EMT training to get my EMT-B certification. Then I'll be eligible to graduate to squad leader, although I think I will take my time making that transition... Working 4 shifts a week (2-3 drives to the scene and then to the hospital and back to the squad, plus handling the stretcher and getting gear from the rig) has been kicking my ass physically. I'll do what I can.
