Socs verses Greasers

Let's face it:  America is like a big high school, and all the cool kids are liberals.  They are the celebrities, the college students, the Harvard Law professors.  They tend to be the most attractive, and they dress better than the rest of us.  Most are fairly wealthy, too, despite the old myth that liberals are poor while conservatives are rich ( Read more... )

"They complain about birth certificates, death panels, the Olympics, Obama's name sounding Muslim, and most recently, the Nobel Peace prize. They seem to sit most comfortably in petty arguments, the ones that are big and explosive, but not all that important. They ignore the stuff that is more complicated, less exciting, but ultimately much, much bigger than Barack Obama's middle name."

That has put a frustration i have had for the longest time with "conservative" politics. I just could never put it in words...PERFECT :)

Just because they think of themselves as the cool kids doesn't make it so.

And I'm not a Christian conservative and I don't have any problem criticizing Obama. And I don't know if I'd be associating your religion with the birthers or prejudice who don't like the sound of the guy's name. There are loads of legitimate reason to loathe his administration without resorting to thinly-veiled xenophobia.

I agree, but most of what I hear--living in rural Indiana--is that he's a Muslim and his middle name is Hussein, and he wasn't even born in the United States.

He's also the anti-Christ, too. Forgot that one!

There's a lot to criticize Obama about, but most of it isn't as exciting as the idea that he may be a sleeper cell for Al Qaeda.

how has 8-face and Ponyboy made a place in this? who are they exactly? I get the shivers everytime its mentioned. I feel like I'm watching a rehash of Dwight talking about how good girls are in bed or seomthing.

If you don't know who Ponyboy and 8-face are, you're inferior to the rest of us. Mmmmmmmyesss.....

Watch The Outsiders--or better yet--read the book. The conversation those two have is amazing. I don't think 8-face is really named 8-face, but I can't think of his name in the story, only that Emilio Esteves's character calls him "8-face."
