I have a hard time taking Orson Scott Card seriously, since he's a raging homophobe.

Still, you know I'm with you on unions. I'm not thrilled about being forced to be a union member, but hopefully if there IS a time I ever need them, they'll be there. At least my dues aren't ridiculous like my Mom's (her union is worthless and she pays $250 a month to them).

My Dad hates unions. His Dad was an airline mechanic, and every few years they'd go on strikes for weeks for a dime an hour raise. They'd never make up the money they lost when they went on strike, but for those weeks single-provider families struggled to survived. I've grown up in an anti-union home. :)

Card check is vile.

I agree about the card check thing.

Not sure that Orson Scott Card is a raging homophobe. :) He may be a wee bit more....eh...outspoken and passionate about the issue than I am. But it seems the bar keeps getting set higher for what is considered "tolerant" and what's considered "homophobic."

He's called for the re-criminalization of homosexuality. That's pretty damn homophobic.
