The Tyranny of Key

Looking at a piano, there are certain rules associated with each key.  If you play these notes over here, you cannot play that note over there.  Them's the RULES, and you don't break the RULES.  If you do, you have nothing but aimless note abuse, something a toddler or a jazz musician might play.

I love when you write. I exchange emails you like 50 million times in a given week but I've SO missed this.

Hearing that song via a piano would be amazing, I can't wait for you to sound it out and put it on a record for me...'twill be beautiful.

As someone who is a complete non-musician, I've always been impressed with - and bewildered by - how music comes together. Writing lyrics can be difficult, but seems like it's easier than the actual music. Pairing good music with meaningful lyrics seems like a more difficult task than you'd think considering the commercial success of so much music.
