I was looking at the lunar eclipse a little while ago. What's interesting is that, to the naked eye, the moon looks red, but with the binoculars it just looks all shadowy. Hmm.

hmmm perhaps when you're that bit closer to it, the smog particles are further away from each other?? i was hoping there'd be a picture in the papers of it, but if what you say is true, it might not photograph

On the news they said it was something to do with particles filtering out blue light, though I have no idea how it actually works! There was a nice big pic in Wednesday's Herald Sun. Looked very cool.
