Please don't read this post if you are hungry. It contains images of, mostly me, tucking into all things yummy! What's a visit to Chicago without treating yourself, right?
The pictures also include some of the more random and interesting things we stumbled upon during out visit.
It's the last part in my three part tour of Chicago. Enjoy!
We had maps and a designated plan of what to see and do each day during our visit to Chicago, but every now and then as we walked, we would run into something completely unexpected.
Like this rose garden in the middle of the city
Or this
Or these;
You may even spot a dinosaur!
Or some giant people!
With an equally as giant suitcase!
At one point, we ran into a Greenhouse, sitting on the edge of a park we were walking through. It was delightful to pop inside and escape the heat!
This sculpture has a name, but I must confess, I cannot remember it. It's called 'The Bean' by locals so that's what I'll call it. It's right across the awesome fountain from Picture Part 2.
Oz Park, featuring as you might have guessed, characters from The Wizard of Oz.
Did I mention that Chicago is a food lovers paradise? Needless to say, we fit right in and tasted every yummy greasy thing we could get our hands on.
Giordanos is world famous for it's pizza's. We were going to dine in, but when we saw this queue outside, we got takeaway. We still had to wait an hour.
But when we finally picked it up, we worked out what the fuss was all about. This was a 6 inch vegetarian pizza with cheese filled crust. I swear to god when I got given this box, I almost dropped it. It was far heavier than I expected. Opening this box, was a moment that had to be caught on camera. I have never seen a pizza like it. These are totally embarrassing photos, but whatever, I'm going to share anyway. Needless to say, it was yum, yum, yum!
The first bite- heaven!
Frappucino's American Style. Heavy on the cream and bad for the waistline, but yum.
By the way, for those that met me in New York at the picnic, I wore this dress! Maybe you'll remember me there. *waves* Hi!
Hershey's in Chicago has a bakery. We couldn't NOT purchase this mint brownie. I mean look at it!! Admit it, you wouldn't walk away either.
Delicious!
That's it folks. Hope you have enjoyed my tour of Chicago through the eyes of a first time visitor. Next time you're there, do grab a pizza from Giordano's. They are pricey and yes, you will have to wait for it probably more than an hour, but you will not regret it.
Next up, Niagara Falls and New York.
