Hello my lovelies!!
Ken and I are finally out of the dark ages and have internet at our new home!
Already I have been in Melbourne almost four weeks! The time has flown by incredibly fast, as there has been so much to do and learn. I must admit, the first few days living in a new city are incredibly overwhelming, but overtime, I have adjusted quite well. (I was even up to giving out directions to tourists last week!).
Ken has done a good job with finding our apartment. It's in a great location just north of Melbourne city, with access to both trams and trains. We try and switch up our modes of transport so it doesn't feel like we have the same routine everyday. We still have boxes unopened lying around the house, but other than that, we are pretty settled here in Melbourne and have embraced the city as if we have always lived here.
Last week, it was Melbourne Open House - a great event whereby the City of Melbourne open up buidlings to the general public that we do not normally have access to. Best of all, it was free event. This year there were 60 buildings open. There was no way you could possibly see all 60 in a weekend, but we did as many as we could and ended up visiting 24. It was great fun and even though it was raining and a little cold, it was a reminder of what Melbourne has to offer as.
That weekend was also very busy as we went to see Mary Poppins at the theatre. I cannot recommend the show highly enough to anyone who gets a chance to see is across the world. It is as delightful and imaginative and engaging as you imagine it would be. Go see it if you can!
My new job is going very well. Admittedly, it was incredibly overwhelming at first as the work is so vastly different than what I used to do. But as the weeks have progressed I am thankful for my airline experience as it has helped me pick up this job relatively quickly and every day my confidence is growing.
Of course, I miss home terribly and I miss my family but I call home whenever I can and that makes it a lot easier. But, I am happy here. I love Melbourne, I have my best friend by my side and so far we are having a great adventure together.
I will never catch up on all the missed posts over the last four weeks, but I'll be back commenting soon. I do hope you have all been well. Please fill me in on any Randy / Gale goss I may have missed. Hugs, hugs, hugs. xx
