The 4-legged 'man of the house' is in hospital.
Rushed him to the emergency people last night when found he was weeing blood. Seems he has typical male cat problem of crystals in the bladder, but they were dislodged (possibly when we picked him up, finding him in garage lying in his own wee) so he's much better in that his bladder is emptying now, didn't need to be catheterised. Picked him up from vet emergency hospital this morning and took him to 'regular vet' which we don't have cuz he's never been to vet before. He lives inside, barely goes out into the yard, is always in at night (HATE with a passion people who put cats out at night) and is just a generally pretty cool dude.
So, given what it can cost when the vet started talking I said 'Don't bother with the 'gold class option', it's kinda out of the question and therefore I'd rather not know - just tell me what it will take to make him healthy and happy again.' So he was really good, and they've referred us to Animal Welfare League people who are now keeping him under observation for the day to make sure he doesn't 'clog up' again as that apparently is also common.
Boy am I glad he waited till I had a day off to do all this! See? I said he's a good cat.
