I am in an ongoing debate with myself on how much paint to apply, and whether overpainting eventually becomes a problem (OK, on paper rather than figures)
It is definitely a factor. I chose to add paint, rather than strip it and start over in this case because 2 things made it easier to do it this way on this model: 1. The original paint job was done by an experienced painter, so the layers on there were sparse, smooth and even. 2. The existing paint colours work as a base coat, so I'm blending up to the new colour quickly and it doesn't take a lot of paint to get there with the new pigments in the citadel paints.
