Generation Gap

I need a little advice. My mother’s computer (which my dad had made by a local computer shop; it’s not a name brand) finally gave up the ghost for the last time not too long ago. Family tech support isn't real fun sometimes.
Win7 isn't bad, in fact it's quite good and that's the first time I've said that about an MS operating system. But it has no outlook express, you can go dl windows live mail, don't have to sign up for live to use it or anything. Basically it's the new OE. If she feels like going back to that of course.
I'd just stay w/ vista, if it's working don't mess with it. Don't like vista had friends who had it that it was bad for, on the other hand I hear it works fine now esp. if it's factory installed and updated.

One thing go and get Microsoft Security Essentials. I still have Avast for backup AV but really MSE is all you need and it's free. Just make sure you get directly to microsoft.com and not one of the odd sites, there were a few of those when it first came out.
