Lorne winced in the general direction of the stage. Durthlock the Child-Eater was murdering it's way through a Fine Young Cannibals tune. It's not that Lorne didn't appreciate the irony (Cannibals, ha ha), but he didn't like this song the first time, when Roland Gift lurched tunelessly through it.
"You want another," Lorne said. It wasn't a question. His hand froze on the tap, beneath the countertop. "You driving, Daniel?"
Oz looked up and sighed. "I hope not." he said. He didn't refuse another drink. "Not sure I'm going anywhere." Like back to the hotel. He was planning on some hardcore avoidance for the time being.
"You know, there's only so long you can avoid her. I'm not trying to step all over your 'drink-it-all-away' strategy, Keith Richards, but try to keep in mind that she's a pretty enough girl that if she wanted nothing but a warm body, Los Angeles is full of those."
Lorne tipped a glass, filling it with more frosty, cold beer, and set it gently on the coaster in front of Oz. Practiced hands moved away the empty.
"She's with you because of you. Not any other reason."
Oz took a drink of his beer before answering. "Wish I believed that." he said. He was feeling downright maudlin, not a feeling he had often. He never dealt with it particularly well. Not that most people would be able to tell. "Seems to me she's just working her way down the line." he said. "She been with you yet?" he asked. Not that Lorne owed him an answer. He wasn't being hostile, it was just a question. There was a reason he'd come here tonight. Lorne was about the only one he felt he could handle for company at the moment.
