Finished HP

Albeit at around 4:45 this morning, but finished all the same, in about 6 hours.  Its a pretty damned good read, actually... except for the ending.  The classicist's injokes are good, the puns as usual awful and yet awesome.  But the ending, quite a long section at the end in fact, just left me... cold.  I'm sorry, but it did.  A very disappointing ( Read more... )

You read it in 6 HOURS?? I read it in about... 3 sessions of 6-8 hours each. Maybe the last one was shorter.

I didn't notice any "classists' injokes" - spotted one or two biblical quotes though :)

You aren't a classicist, so you wouldn't :P Just like I didn't spot Biblical paraphrases.

Not paraphrases. Direct quotes, just not referenced. If Lucy didn't have our copy right now then I would look them up.

The other thing I was just thinking though, was that the author intended to tie up all the loose ends she'd created, so I expected that A things would speed up as we neared the end, and secondly that no new things would be added - thus making the ending less exciting that the begining, but I wouldn't really have wanted it any other way. I'd have hated it if she left loads of unanswered questions.
