What's to say that hasn't already been said about the My Bloody Valentine show? It was LOUD. The last band I'd heard that threatened to liquefy the audience was Pan Sonic when they opened for Mogwai years ago. The gratis earplugs were a lifesaver ( Read more... )

After working our way up at the front for the first few songs, we decided to retreat to the bleachers in the back. Dancing wasn't really the point... simply absorbing the sound worked really well from a seated position. :)

I do like live shows simply for the social experience. Dancing is fun too.

I remember sitting in the far back bar for Pan Sonic/Mogwai with earplugs on and being worried about my health. Good times! Strangely, Don Caballero at the Breakroom was also an unbearably load show, threatening to evacuate my bowels with low frequencies.

i know what you mean about live shows. for me, i like going to local small shows but not big shows as much. i feel like maybe it's the whole aging thing. however, this spring i've had a lot of big shows to go to and the more i go, the more i like it and get in the swing of it. but yeah, i've always hated the standing around and pain but it just gets worse ;) i saw throbbing gristle the other night and had shooting pains in my feet and afterwards my back was all stiff and i felt like an old lady.

After I got old and crusty the only live shows I've enjoyed have been in very small venues where I could potentially touch the band.

Everything else feels like a bad youtube video.
