Canon! Wiki! Trolls! And Sollux himself! (Also, I have an entire history written up
here from a previous app, if more information is needed!)
Affiliation: Trainer!
Personality: In every aspect of Sollux's life, his penchant for BIFURCATION is very clear. It not only has a clear effect on his abilities, interests, and history, but on his personality as well. He is said to be BIPOLAR, although the extreme MOODSWINGS make it seem almost as if he has two entirely separate personalities at times. He generally seems to exist somewhere in between the two extreme ends, but it's not at all unusual for him to have fits of overblown anger that lead directly into his more self-loathing side, or vice versa.
When not affected by one of his moodswings, Sollux actually seems to be pretty laid back, especially for a troll. He laughs off even the vilest jabs at himself, and tends to just be a really COOL AND COLLECTED GUY. He also can be a bit apathetic to things that don't involve him or his interests. Of course, his moodswings are completely random- although he might be calm and laughing at Karkat's childishness one second, the next he's flipping off the handle and arguing back just as vehemently --
-- only to then apologize for flying off the handle in the first place, with some sort of WITTY METAPHOR for how he flew off the handle. Which leads us to the other half of his personality, the self-loathing half. Sollux seems rather convinced at times that he's pathetic, and it's really no secret that he hates himself. Even though he's the best around at computers, he still thinks he isn't any good at all- he actually writes computer programs (mostly VIRUSES) and sends them to Karkat just to get some sort of validation of his abilities. He can be incredibly PESSIMISTIC, although some of this is due to his constantly hearing and seeing visions of death and impending doom. When relating one of his visions to a friend, he's even explicitly asked if, maybe, he's interpreting the visions wrong due to how he feels about himself. While he denies this, claiming that what he saw is the truth, it still goes to show just how bad his self hatred can get at times.
Sollux is one of the only trolls shown to actually have a real friendship with somebody; due to the nature of troll emotions and relationships (which I'm not getting into, as troll romance is confusing as hell, even to trolls), it seems that it's rather uncommon to actually have a good friend. In fact, on Alternia the word for "friend" is the same as the word for "enemy", something which can definitely be seen in the constant bickering between Sollux and his best friend Karkat. Although Sollux claims that he only talks to many of the other trolls due to his self-loathing attitude, it's obvious that this isn't the case; Aradia even tells him that she knows he enjoys talking to her, and Karkat reaffirms their friendship everytime he and Sollux get into an argument. (It's possible this friendship is actually a MOIRALLEGIANCE, a type of romance, but this is really only speculation at this point. Either way Sollux and KK are extremely close.)
Sollux also, despite some of his rather glaring personality flaws and complete lack of self esteem, is one of the only trolls to have some sort of success in REDROM (pretty much the same as our human romance). At the moment he has some sort of (unspecified) redrom relationship with FEFERI PEIXES (which also led to some drama involving her ex-moirail, ERIDAN AMPORA). Feferi's use of FISH PUNS has rubbed off on Sollux, and he now includes them in his speech alongside his previous lame jokes and extended metaphors.
Some other minor things of note:
- Due to Sollux's bifurcation, he has a tendency towards things being red and blue.
- Sollux also has an obsession with things being in sets of two, and overuses the word 'two' in his text.
- Many of Sollux's metaphors tend to be about flying/flipping off the metaphorical handle. Typically in some sort of over the top athletic manner.
- Sollux is about the only troll to consistently use some chatspeak (LMAO, etc.)
- Sollux gives nicknames to everyone.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Sollux is a very powerful PSIONIC. His telekinetic powers allow him to use practically anything as a weapon, and as such he has no use for a STRIFE SPECIBUS like everyone else. He's even capable of throwing gigantic meteors around with his mind.
+ Sollux's psychic abilities also have given him the ability to hear the VOICES OF THE IMMINENTLY DECEASED, as well as see visions of doom and destruction with his VISION TWOFOLD. Presumably these prophetic visions are what lead to his title in SGRUB being the MAGE OF DOOM.
+ His various psychic abilities also lead to him being able to fly and put people to sleep instantly.
+ Sollux is also an amazing HACKER and COMPUTER PROGRAMMER. He's simply the BEST THERE IS. If you want something done on computers, he can probably do it, no matter how obscure it is. In canon he wrote a virus that, when compiled by Karkat, not only blew up KK's computer but also caused every trolls' LUSUS (i.e., guardian) to die and for every single one of them to be cursed forever. He also programmed the entire game based on some codes Aradia found in some ruins, and managed to track a money transfer to an entirely different universe (although he hasn't done the last one yet, as of the point I'm taking him from).
+ Based on his complete mastery of even the most complex computer languages, Sollux is presumably rather intelligent.
- His fighting with psionics has left him with absolutely no ability in any weapons at all. Oops. Good thing there isn't any real fighting in the Pokemon world!
- It can be assumed that Sollux likely isn't too physically fit, due to the fact that he seems to do pretty much everything with his psionics instead of doing it physically, and most of his free time is spent on the computer. He even seems to fly places instead of walking, usually, so that's probably going to be a bit difficult.
- Sollux's vision twofold and the voices of the imminently deceased give him incredibly DEBILITATING HEADACHES. Some of the headaches might also be due to the fact that he supposedly has a 'mutant brain' although this really isn't expanded on and might just be Karkat making fun of him and Sollux being hard on himself.
- Sollux's bipolar moodswings can be a rather severe disadvantage due to how unpredictable he is. When he gets in a self-loathing mood he has absolutely no problems putting himself down, claiming he's the worst troll ever and awful at everything even though he knows he's a damn good hacker, and in his angry moods he will readily fight or argue with anyone, regardless of how close they are. And, when he gets like that? Even KK's normal "are we still friends?" routine doesn't always work. Until his mood flip-flops again, at least.
- His bipolarity also leads to his SUSCEPTIBILITY TO MIND CONTROL; he is only controllable about half the time, which is assumed to be in his bouts of self-hate.
- Due to his LOW BLOOD (it's yellow!) and own innate (and incredibly strong) psychic abilities, Sollux is actually weaker against psychic attacks than other trolls.
- Continuing off of the blood thing, troll society ranks blood on a HEMOSPECTRUM, with red at the bottom of the caste system and violet at the top. Sollux's blood places him rather low, meaning that, to those trolls that care about blood color, he's rather low-class and unimportant. (Sollux himself doesn't seem to care, though, since he can't even keep the order straight for some reason.)
- Although it's rather minor compared to most of these other 'weaknesses', Sollux does have a LISP. The poor guy can't even say his own name right.
- In this RP, a rather severe weakness for Sollux is going to be his lack of psionics. He pretty much relies on them, despite how much he hates the fact that he has them (since they make him a freak).

[The video clicks on to a really cool guy wearing some awesome 3-D style shades. Or maybe he's not so cool and they aren't so awesome, actually he's pretty much the very opposite of cool. But whatever, he's still there and he's still looking just the slightest bit uncomfortable as he's on the video, although the reason why isn't immediately clear. Once he speaks it's with a pretty heavy lisp, so good luck trying to understand him.]
KK? Are you here? Or any trollth really, thith plathe ith kind of weird and thith Pokemon or whatever it'th called doethn't really theem all that utheful. Sollux had never seen anything like this in his visions. Sure, they weren't really fool-proof. No matter how much he denied it, TZ had been right when she'd told him sometimes he maybe interpreted them wrong. And sure, most of them typically had to do with death or destruction, not things like ending up in a weird universe (that they may or may not have created) and turned into some sort of... thing. Whatever he was he didn't have his horns and it felt weird. Not having any clue what was going on was even weirder, and when he tried to fly up to get a better view of things? Yeah, that was gone too. He'd gotten pretty used to being a freak, so that was pretty much a big shock.
It would have been better if KK was there. Or FF, even. At least she never seemed to get down on things, and even if he didn't agree with her it would have been nice to have a familiar face around. As it was he was just stuck being a useless piece of shit without his psionics. Really, was there ever a more worthless, horrible excuse for a troll? A troll that wasn't even a troll anymore, even. Wow, what a surprise there. The universe really did hate him.
At least the Pokegear thing wasn't a completely useless piece of shit. As soon as he'd gotten out of that weird alien town Sollux had messed with the thing, and it really didn't take too long to figure out. But it was still a computer and with everything else that had changed? It was nice to at least have something he was familiar with. And the phone function could actually be pretty useful, just in case the others were there. Not that he was expecting it or anything, since the universe fucked him over at every chance possible, almost like he was some sort of horrible monstrosity that some angry mob had to chase out of town while armed with pitchforks and torches just to make sure he didn't eat all their cluckbeasts or something stupid like that.
Okay, even he had to admit that one was pretty awful. But still, the universe hated him. No one could really deny it. But at least he could check with this thing. If KK or FF or TZ or anyone was there at least he could be a useless freak with some company. The troll disease known as friendship did have some advantages.
