Because all albums, compilations and mix tapes should finish with a 'last song on the album' song.
This song comes from one of the two albums I bought just because the melody maker told me too. By that I mean that I read the review and went "christ me, I need to hear this album". (the other was "destination love - live" by the make-up, if you're interested). Since I first heard it, it's pretty much been one of the only two albums which has always been in my "best 10 albums ever" mental list (you can probably work out the other one). In the days before mp3s and downloads, the vinyl copy I had of this album was pretty much my most treasured musical possetion - because unlike drugstore's album, which I could have replaced if lost/damaged - albeit with difficulty - loosing/breaking this would have meant the end of my access to it, other than my own dodgy tape copy. The initially album pressing sold out in a few short weeks, and it was only a handful of years ago that it was reissued as part of a box set of this dude's collected works.
I ended up buying the collection on CD - from fopp, if you cared, because I'd only ever bought his stuff on LP (because they felt like albums which should be owned on vinyl), and was agast that they'd but some bonus tracks on the end of this album..... there are 'end of album' song that are definitively 'end of album' songs - what should come after them is the sound of a needle hitting the line-out groove, or a CD spinning down... or just silence.... This is one of those.

Despite the lack of festive warmth of this song, I'd like to wish anyone who played along with this year's Open The Door a properly lovely christmas.
