So that Star Trek: Into Darkness then

what I wanted was another film like "star trek" (i.e. the last one), which i thought was absolutely ace. What I got was more akin to Skyfall, but without Javier Bardem's outstanding performance.

It was good, but it wasn't as good as I was hoping. If you can come at it with reduced expectations, then it would probably be a benefit. There are some bits which are very good, but talking about them equals spoilers.

Obviously it wouldn't be a star trek film if there wasn't a moment which annoyed my sense of continuety. The film opens on earth, and the first time you see a ship leave earth, it warps straight out of orbit. Where as we know you can't do that within the solar system without great danger (and this time they did with no sign of being aware to any danger). It's not a bit thing, but it annoyed me.

In all, it's not as good as Star Trek:Insurrection (the last next generation film).
