And no offense, but I don't think the government is crying about not having to pay someone their wage when they are reported MIA.

Actually, I think they have to pay extra to the family.

I can't even listen to Sean Hannity. He's so pompous, that I don't care if he's arguing that eating babies is wrong- he just cancels out everything he says by being obnoxious.

I was just about to say that.

The immediate family (spouse and dependents) get money for the rest of their lives or until dependents are of legal age. Spouses get full lifetime medical coverage, a pension and base services until they die, or until they remarry.

The military actually gives shitloads about losing their troops. Monetarily speaking, they are an investment and when they go *POOF* they lose that investment. Yeah, they cry.

There is not necessarily a reason to value everyone's views. Opinions, like "John is cute" or "Chocolate is tastier than vanilla" are based purely on preference, and are all equally valuable. There is no right or wrong opinion. But beliefs, such as "Jefferson was a better president than Cleveland" ARE based on fact, and can be proven or disproven. In some cases, ideas like "The war in Iraq was justified" cannot be absolutely proven or disproven, facts exist pertaining to the idea that can be used to make a meaningful conclusion one way or another ( ... )

First off, I have no knowledge about the pay structure of the military, thank you Anne and Christine for correcting my misinformation. I shouldn't have written as if I had some knowledge about it when in reality I was pretty wrong. Now I know ( ... )
