I know we haven't talked in ages, but reading this, I wanted to just make a small point. Muslims don't believe all non-muslims are going to hell, and especially not christians. Muslims believe that Christians and Jews are also 'people of the book', and that they have kind of the right idea. God first spoke to the Jews, then spoke again and out of that came Christianity, then spoke again, and out of that came Islam. The Quaran says a lot about respecting other religions (esp. other 'people of the book'), it's just gotten twisted and perverted by extremists. Just FYI :)

I confess, when I wrote it I wasn't entirely sure if that was the case, but do they believe that they will be saved, or given some sort of mercy?

actually, i worked with this muslim guy over the summer who told me repeatedly that i was going to hell solely b/c i wasn't muslim. i think some muslims perpetrate their own stereotypes b/c they themselves are ignorant about their own religion. i pretty much wanted to beat that kid with something heavy, like a big leather-bound version of the quran.

Very true. People are crazy. It's like how Baptists or Catholics or whatever other denomination will always have those people in it who tell everybody their going to hell. I like the beating with a heavy leather bound version of the quran suggestion :)
