You're just lucky you didn't say anything about how fast Cubans speak or we'd be having a problem right now.
But yeah, they overreacted. It's a well-known fact that people of a latin heritage speak fast. However, because you're a white man, you're not allowed to make blanket statements like that UNLESS you first affirm that you have hispanic friends. Drop my name next time this happens.
whoa, you work at AHOF now? like, with my brother? totally didnt know that. and btw, that wasnt offensive. -rolls eyes- they should have been more understanding.
i love people. they are so silly sometimes. Its the anticipation of racism that gets me. This is why i am so big on phemomenology and like schools of thoght. take things for what they are, not for what they might possibly be if A, B and D requirements are assumed to be filled... Gah!
On that note, I scared a Japanese couple in Brissy when I asked them "Sumimasen, nan ji desu ka?" = 'Pardon me, what time is it?" and intend to do it again while touring syndey.
the wierdest part is that the comment said the spanish language (which i think ive earned the right to comment on) was fast, not latin people, not peurto ricans, spanish itsself from anyone sounds fast to someone who speaks english. Its almost as wierd as that guy just getting up and leaving, if he was offended he should have called me on it right then and there. Ohwell im kinda over it now, i shouldnt have to apologize for him taking an innocuous comment the wrong way. If hes going to assume that because im white im going to make offensive jokes and then not confront me with it then nothing i say would change his mind. -Mat
