Here are some (kid friendly) things to try.
1. Put a bigassed smiley face on the wall.
2. Make a smiley face on a stick and hold it over your face whenever they aren't smiling.
3.Get them to breath throught their mouths.
4. (you likely know this one) Attach funny stories to the parts of the choreography you want them to smile in, they will remember them and smile with any luck.
The most important thing to remember is that what ever face we make the audience makes back at us.
I don't know how to teach that to kids but I teach it to adults by proving it to them. Try to not make the face I make at you I say and then make a smile and they all smile.
Hope this helps.
Also don't worry about your neck and stop touching it, it makes lymph nodes bigger if you poke them.
