Cuddy swept into her office aware that she had only thirty minutes to eat lunch, check her phone messages and email, and gather her notes before the Department Head meeting at one. Also fully aware that her assistant was missing. Why was it that he was always skulking elsewhere when she actually needed him to do something, like run to the cafeteria and grab her a salad?

She put her annoyance aside. If her assistant were here he'd be skulking around her and she really didn't want him finding out that the reason she didn't get her own lunch was that she wanted to check her email...because there might be one from Mystery Man.

Feeling slightly foolish, Cuddy sat at her desk and logged onto her computer. She knew she shouldn't be devoting so much time to someone she hadn't yet met, but she was having fun. The flowers, unfortunately, had wilted over the weekend and she'd had to throw them out, but once Mystery Man initiated contact they'd begun exchanging emails frequently. She was frustrated by his stubborn refusal to reveal his identity, but at the same time she kind of liked the tease, the growing sense of anticipation. Besides, he did know how to flatter a woman.

Cuddy's heart gave a little flutter when she saw a new email from M.M. She rolled her eyes and told herself to get a grip already. She also opened the message.

Food for Thought:
Cancel the department head meeting and allow me to treat you to lunch. I guarantee you'll find it far more pleasing than the whining of bored doctors who only show up for the free bagels to begin with.

Delighted at the thought that maybe she was finally going to meet her mysterious suitor, she hit the reply button immediately. She hesitated with her fingers hovering over the keyboard. He hadn't actually said he'd be joining her, but surely that's what he meant. You didn't offer to treat someone to lunch, then not show up yourself...except maybe this guy did.

Suddenly, it clicked: Department Head meeting. How the hell would Mystery Man know about the meeting, and the bagels, unless....

"Gotcha," Cuddy said to herself, a smug grin on her face. Mystery Man must work at the hospital. And if he worked at the hospital, she'd find him. It was only a matter of time. Still grinning, she quickly sent him a challenge in the form of a response.
