Roller Derby = aggressive Eddie :)

Oh! Oh! Oh! I went to my first roller derby tonight. Well at least your national anthem is half decent.

When I was growing up the national anthem used to be played at the end of films in cinemas. Our elders were totally unimpressed at how quickly we managed to get to the exit, whilst the adults half heartedly stood to attention. My lack of respect for the monarchy has not dwindled since then.

Yes. We didn't stand either. I remember when I was very little we had to endure your anthem as well ;)

Having it at the end of a film is odd though.

Funny thing: I found out a while ago that our national anthem changed the year before I started school, so no wonder I don't remember it as a kid, though I do remember saluting the flag and am still proud to have done so.

I support the monarchy but I'm not a fan of "God Save The Queen", mainly because the second verse is racist and anti-Scottish (I'm not Scottish, but I'm a lifelong Scotiaphile and my fiancee is of Scottish descent).
