I'm 32 now - it took me probably 7 years of my own "exposure" therapy (ha ha) to get comfortable in my own skin. I decided, one hot summer, that I wanted to be able to sleep naked. It was really hard, but I just wore less and less and less clothes and eventually I was able to sleep through the night. Took me a very very long time. But now I can and it gives me this feeling of satisfaction and triumph that I don't have to be afraid or affected by that piece of shit in my own home, in my own bed, in my own life. I still gotta have a cover on, but I have to have that even in pajamas. :)

My PTSD is mostly from being an actual witness to years of sexual abuse of my younger sister, by our father, starting when *I* was 6! That and growing up in a completely dysfunctional family with a wallflower mom, and a father who got a kick out of emotional and psychological abuse as well, and various other mind games. Did I mention he was a psychologist?
I "deal" with it, by having twice weekly classic therapy (with a wee bit CBT thrown in). My current run is two years long, the longest ever, and my therapist is awesome. I've been in many forms of therapy for most of my life. Now being 40 that is quite a lot! Funny how I've come full circle back to "classic". I also take Lamictal for the mood-swings, the occasional Lorivan for anxiety attacks, and sleeping pills. As much as I hate to say it - Long Live Mind Drugs.
