Well, that was embarrassing.

Not that I expect my vanishing act to have been all that conspicuous, but still. Unlike the proverbial cat falling off the mantelpiece, I did not intend to do that ( Read more... )

. . . and for God's sake, I proofed the html that time. I'm blaming this one on LJ, and leaving well enough alone.

Oh, you missed all the fun with the DDoS attacks. Breaking HTML is a minor LJ issue in comparison. :)

I hope your fingers are all right now!

I enjoyed Kuroshitsuji, especially as things got more and more messed up - every time I thought, No, they're not really going there the anime really did! I haven't seen anything pat the first season, though (and am not sure how there can be more).

If you're in the mood for Weiss Kreuz fic, the Weiss Day Exchange has just revealed the authors.

Thanks! The fingers now at least allow me to type, and therefore to learn from you that the Weiss Day exchange is up is. Which is to say, things are greatly improved as of this very moment ( ... )

Happy to see you back, but awfully sorry to hear about the fingers! I hope there wasn't any permanent damage?

Madoka Magica is amazing, isn't it? I hate to think of what'll happen when the double-bill finale is over and we have be no more Faustian Magical Girls to look forward to.

I know! I'm almost relieved that there will be an inevitable delay before those of us who don't know Japanese see a fansubbed version. Not only will we continue to have it to look forward to, but with any luck we'll have advance warning if the final episodes aren't up to the ridiculously-high standards of the series so far. And if they are that good, we can console ourselves to some extent with the way the whole thing stands up to, and even demands, re-watching. There's so damn much there; I see something new every time.

The fingers are almost more an embarrassment than anything else. Nothing was displaced or anything; paradoxically, most of the problem is that I have very limited sensation in my hands and there were and are places that can't be splinted without making the whole hand useless. So I kept forgetting and re-cracking things -- still might if I'm not careful. I feel like an utter and complete idiot. An idiot who appreciates the sympathy, but an idiot nevertheless.

I am glad you're not in pain, though. There's nothing stupid about that, you're only human.

Oh, ugh, broken fingers. That sounds absolutely terrible. I had noticed your lack of posts, but had not realized that there was such a painful reason. It's good to see you again, though!

About me, I am no longer in India, or Wales, which I find incredibly exciting. But I'm completely out of the loop on everything fandom-related, and so have not even heard of these two series.

Welcome home, then! however belatedly. It is exciting for us to have you back from India and Wales, too!

As for not having heard of Madoka or Kuroshitsuji, well. Well.

Everyone will rec you Madoka, which I've been telling people reminds me a little of Faust and a little of Buffy; you can find it streaming here. Or at least, you can find all the episodes so far released. The final two were held out of very reasonable sensitivities over the great earthquake, and are scheduled to air this week. We all hope they'll come up to the standard set by the ten episodes already released, which is going to be tough to do.

As for Kuroshitsuji, I'm pretty sure I would like it even if the relationship between the two lead characters didn't remind me oddly of my notions of Hisoka and Muraki playing dress-up. But the fact that it does certainly doesn't hurt. It's funny and spooky at once, and it doesn't wimp out on its ending, and, well, I strongly suspect that you'd like it too. Cuddly sociopaths! Royalty! Food! What's not to love?

Thanks! I still can't believe how purely annoying it's all been. Like having the electricity go out: you know there are workarounds, and for the most part you find them, but it's utterly maddening all the same. Especially given that it's so trivial. You have to pay attention to it, but you feel like a drama queen whenever you do -- or at least, I do.
