Oh no, someone spiked the bowl of time punch!

Look, I know in our field it's pretty standard (and 97.8% easy) to make fun of the covers Baen Books puts out. They are gaudy and silly and glaringly offensive to graphic designers young and old, as well as a slew of other things. Unfortunately (or maybe in PR's eyes fortunately), they stand out on bookshelves like giant hairy moles, and on my ( Read more... )

Oh, well of course there was some kind of time warp, causing the dino, Mortimer, to be transported to King Arthur's days along with other prehistoric tendencies. Lancelot is toast. At least the horse got away...

Don't know you know in prehistoric times, horses were much like cats, they always land on their feet--he'll be fine.

Um. Some kind of spike in time (?) that somehow transports things from one timeline into another? In this case it looks like a Tyrannasaurus (sp?!) into a bad version of medieval times...or oooh! Arthurian Times?!

What a terrible cover. I mean, forget that it doesn't make any sense...it's also just horribly horribly done. Oy.

ooh wait! I just noticed the volcano. I want to amend my answer to say that the "time spike" merges two times...in this case prehistoric and arthurian times...? Do I win...what do I win?!?!?!?!

See, I think it merges THREE times. Because that tower in the background looks a little too modern for Arthurian times. Maybe...Nazis, too?

With this book, there is no winning.
