I can't imagine Google being down! It's funny how fast you get used to things. I was just looking for something that was posted on LJ in 2007 and suddenly I wondered if we used tags back then. I still remember when they were new, slightly suspicious and/or unreliable, and now I use them all the time...
I've never noticed it being down, either. Once there was something wrong with my computer and I took it to be repaired, and I said something jokingly about missing it while it was gone. The guy at the store said, wry, that yes, it's awful when you can't check Facebook all the time. I was confused and later even offended... hee. But omg Facebook is so not what I miss about the internet! Fandom > Facebook.
He would probably have said (or thought without mentioning it out loud) something about porn to a man. And, ironically, that would have been more accurate in my case too!
I'm long past caring. I spend most of my online time on sites that don't go down. I'd mind if LJ were down early in the day since I like to check it over breakfast. But once I've checked it? Nah. :D
It's kind of neat how things change like that, though, isn't it? At one point I would have cared a lot if LJ was down. Now I don't feel like I depend on it so much.
Going by what I've seen posted after LJ outages, there's a group of people out there feeling like they need to re-evaluate how much time they spend on their internet pastimes. (And most of them will probably end up spending as much time--or more--as they did before.)
