I was JUST talking about Lonnie to a friend of mine (Jim Bertoldi). I had such a crush on Lonnie... (at least I think I did; there was a Lonnie that fell off the face of the earth and was friends with Phox. I'm assuming that it's this guy...)

For my first 4 months in California, I was Lonnie's and Robey's roommate, in Mountain View... for the same rent as I'd been paying for a big 1bdr in Ann Arbor. I had gotten a pretty fair hiring package... not el grande deluxe, but fair cost of living raise. I was actually moving down a bit; I was a NOC supervisor in MI, to plain ol' NOC engineer. 45K -> 52K. I think Lonnie was working for Sun or maybe cisco, for slightly less... which was incentive for him to apply for and get a sys-adm job at @Home for $54K or somesuch. It was mildly creepy. :) Anyhow, there was too much personality in too little space, so when @Home's office moved to Redwood City, I managed to snag a great rent in Diamond Heights.
But for most of my 4.5 years, Lonnie had root on my workstation, and I didn't. However, I had full network access, so the power-balance stayed quite nicely balanced. :)
Tyler, his co-worker, told me about this "act of terrorism", a few months ago. Oi. :)
