Join in, join up, join us for the 2010 pacifi_cant Fic and Icon Exchange!
Pacificon 2010 is on 10 - 11 April. If you're going, we hope you have a fantastic time! If you're not going, we hope you'll join us for a fantastic time online. We're kicking things off with a ficlet and icon exchange.
~ Sign-up: Now to Thursday, April the 1st, 11:59pm CDT.
~ Assign and receive prompts: Friday 2nd to Monday 5th April, 11:59pm CDT
~ Post snippets and icons: during Bitchin' Party, between first thing April 9th to April 11th, CDT
Snippets must be between 250 and 1500 words, and icon sets should contain 6 to 8 icons
Here's how it works
(Note: These rules are taken from out_of_con_txt and ds_con_envy, with only minor modifications. If you played there, you know how this works.)
STEP ONE: Sign-up Here
Sign-ups are open from now until 11:59pm on Thursday 1 April, CDT. To sign up, you simply COMMENT below with the following info:
1. your email address
2. whether you're going to write or make icons
3. how many snippets/icon sets you want to sign up to write/make (you can write one ficlet or make one icon set, or one of each, for a maximum of 2,)
4. all the fandoms, pairings or characters you're willing to write/icon (you can say "any")
5. if there's anything you won't write/icon, eg. if you're gen only, slash only (please keep this as simple as possible)
6. whether you're willing to pinch hit.
Participating fandoms: Canada 6 Degrees (including, but not limited to Hugh Dillon), Castle, due South, Leverage, Star Trek (TOS and Reboot), White Collar. (These are the fandoms in the program for Pacificon.)
For example:

I'll write Due South:Fraser/Kowalski, Fraser/Vecchio, Fraser/Fraser, Turnbull/Turtle, Thatcher/Mort. AND White Collar: Peter/Neal, Peter/Neal/Elizabeth, Neal/Kate, Mozzie.
I won't write deathfic, noncon, or anything involving ice cream.

Please keep your sign-up as straightforward as possible. And remember, the more fandoms, pairings and characters you offer, the easier it will be for everyone to play.

What happens next?
STEP TWO: We assign you a number.
When sign-ups close (April 1st), we'll make a NEW post, listing all the sign-ups -- anonymous but numbered. Then we'll email you your number (or numbers, if you signed up to write/make two ficlets/icon sets).
STEP THREE: You Assign Prompts
When we post the ANONYMOUS NUMBERED LIST of everyone's sign-up info, you pick a number (not your own!) to be the person who writes/makes icons for you.
You comment with the number of your choice and an appropriate prompt:
~ a pairing or character, and a SINGLE LINE of dialogue for ficlets; OR
~ a simple character request and/or wording for icons.
For example:
#7 - Due South: Gardino/Thatcher "I never would have thought of that."
#18 - I'd like some Castle icons, please - maybe with "Castle" in Old English lettering.
If you signed up to write two ficlets or make two icon sets (or write one ficlet AND make one icon set), you get to choose two gifts to receive as well!
Numbers will be struck off the list as they're claimed.
Comments on the prompt assigning post will NOT be screened.
STEP FOUR: Your Assignment
You'll be able to see the prompt comments, so you can check for yourself. But to make sure there aren't any misunderstandings, when all the sign-ups have been given prompts we'll post a numbered list with the prompt and the name of the person who requested it, for confirmation.
STEP 5: Posting!
You have until NOON on 11 April to write and post your ficlet (250-1500ish words; don't stress about it; think of it like comment fic) or make the icons (sets of 6 to 8; your recipient can pick one or two to be exclusively for them, if they wish, and the rest will be shareable).
Post your snippets or icon sets any time between 9 and 11 April.
