I find that more than four months into this I still laugh inappropriately at any mention of the red coats, the decline of the empire, and the "special relationship" with the US.

What is our "special relationship”? Je trouve étrange que les Anglais et les Américains ne se détestent pas à cause de la guerre d’indépendance.

I think it was a combo of the English speaking bond and that Britain wasn't really interested in joining the rest of the European community. Other things too, but I just took the test and my brain is goo. They don't seem to have a grudge about the whole revolt thing. Sometimes it's fun to yell about it with my flatmates though.
