Snafu doesn't say anything as Sledge nudges closer to him, eager to get away from the stench of the dead man in their foxhole. Sledge is warm compared to the cool of the night, and soon enough, what looks like Sledge leaning on him, is really Sledge nestling into him

Omg, hi.

It's little ficlets like this that make going back and thinking about the full timeline of events so unbearable for me. You give a perfect little bubble in time & I can feel it, I know exactly where it exists with it's sly little smile and breath of comfort and THEN to think Sledge gets left behind at the end, peaceful & asleep... startling in its angst, really. Makes my throat lock up and makes me <3 your fic, of course.
