Prompt: Snafu feels victorious at making Sledge angry and expects that this will finally be the day the redhead slugs him, but the feeling of triumph is short lived when Eugene gives him a deep kiss instead.

He finally catches up with Sledge when he sees him leave a tent with two other guys from Hal company. They're both lean, tall, and hanging over each other trying to obviously comfort him. Snafu snorts, even with the state they're in, they're babying Sledge. He swaggers over slow and steady

They're a good deal a ways away from camp now-only things around them is the ocean and the damned coconut trees. If he did hit him, Sledge would be all clear without a witness. Snafu would almost chalk it up to brilliant planning on Sledge's part if he wasn't so caught up in the moment

I agree with the OP! The Runner/Chuckler was a nice touch & much appreciated. :D Your character voices were awesome. I would read more if you wrote more, just sayin'!

I really liked their interaction here. Snafu is being an asshole and Sledge just looks right through him. I think Snafu doesn't like seeing these guys break. He wants them reliable, capable.
This is pretty far-fetched but Sledge reminds me of a simile Terry Pratchett used. On the surface he is soft as chalk (that baby-face and pale skin!) but underneath lies flint.
So Sledge making the first step is all kinds of awesome.
