creator_man Character Information:
Character Name: River Song
Age: Looks late thirties
Canon: Doctor Who
Appearance: River Song is 5'7" tall, none too thin, but very fit. She has hazel eyes and blond curly hair, a bit more than shoulder-length.
This is a typical look for her, although she may dress up and style herself much more creatively.
Her face is wide and expressive, and her voice are loud and distinctive, slightly raspy. She give the impression of a very energetic person, and she is.
Personality:
Melody Pond was kidnapped as a baby, right after his birth, by an organization - or cult - called the Silence, whose goal was to defeat the Doctor. She was raised with one purpose and one alone - to kill the Doctor, and trained to that goal, turning her, from a very young age, in a perfect psychopath.
However, once she does meet the Doctor, she overcomes that training, and though she does poison him, she later sacrifices much to save his life. Because the person that the Doctor is... she falls in love with.
And her love for the Doctor is one of the driving forces of River Song. She is willing - and does - stop time itself to save his life; after having sacrificed all her regenerations, eventually (past the canon point she's taken from) she gives her life in a situation where somebody must die, and she'd rather it's not the Doctor. While completely independent and capable on her own, her personality is, from a very young age, including an obsession with the Doctor, and it's a running theme for her.
River is energetic, doesn't have a problem with shooting or killing things, adventurous. She is an archaeologist, and good at it; of the sort that favors dangerous recovery operations, although she'll settle for long, patient book-studying and digs, when she has time for it.
She'll use any means to achieve her goals - deception, aggression, manipulation sometimes. She's a very good shot, and favors any kind of gun she can get her hands on - and is not afraid to use it. However, she'll use poison lipstick, hallucination lipstick, sonic screwdriver, or any sort of other thing she gets her hands on.
Another important trait of hers is that her relationship with the important people in her life, especially her parents and the Doctor, are complicated extremely by frequently diverging time streams. The first time her mother meets her, River is a grown woman who knows much, while Amy hasn't even married Rory yet. Because of that, while River is passionate and caring - despite her occasionally brash manner - it's not often that she gets a chance to have close and tender moments with those she loves.
But she is fierce and extremely devoted to protecting them.
In short, she's a caring, functional psychopath who is in love with the man she was programmed to kill and many kinds of additionally damaged because of time travel.
Background:
River Song Canon point:
River is taken from after the episode Demon's Run, because at the point she doesn't have to keep the secret of who her parents are from Amy, Rory, and the Doctor.
This means she has memories of killing the Doctor (both times) and the alternative/stopped timeline from The Wedding of River Song (because she knows the Doctor survives, and that is revealed to her there). So, she still has secrets to keep from her nearest.
Special Abilities: River is human. Mostly. She was conceived inside the TARDIS, she was born with Human+ DNA, in particular, Human + Time Lord. However, she gave away her remaining regenerations to save the Doctor's life (after she had poisoned him), so she isn't capable of doing that.
She is, however, more resilient to conditions than humans. She's been shown to jump off a space ship into vacuum with no visible life support, for the shot time before the TARDIS appeared and the Doctor fished her out of space.
She is also extraordinary strong, climbing out her way from a fully functional life support suit as a mere child.
Other than better resilience, strength, and her acquired skilsl, she doesn't have any particular special abilities.
Sect: Civilian
Job: Archaeologist All-around trouble-maker Probably will join up with the Avengers

First Person:
[video; River is wearing a radiant smile, looking at the video pickup. Yes, she's managed to get clothes, even if not up to her usual standard; she'll take care of that later.]
Oh, now this is quaint. Does anybody care to venture a guess what the year exactly is, AD? I'd hate to be imprecise when writing it up.
Mind you, I don't appreciate not having my things. But I guess I'll be able to piece some of them from available materials anyway. This is fair warning, yes.
Hello, Coruscant! This is River Song. What have you got for me?
Third Person:
Rule one. The Doctor lies.
Those were the first words River Song wrote in her journal. The one that she'd found on her bedside when she woke up, in that beautifully sunny room in a time and place she knew nothing about, but then, where would be the fun if it had been otherwise?
Of course, he'd given her a head start, leaving her in the care of the best hospital in the universe; that was helpful. Considering that she could barely keep her eyes open for a minute at a time to begin with, that was nice. And she had all the information she could want to, to make up her mind.
As if it was that difficult to find out what she wanted.
To find him, of course.
This time, not to kill him. She'd done that, and she knew, with the certainty of all her remaining lives given, that she didn't want him dead. He was the one who wouldn't give up on his friends, despite everything. The one who could take a defeat and keep. on. fighting. For life. For those he cared about, because he cared impossibly much.
Whatever she'd been taught, whatever she'd thought, that was worth fighting for.
Now, how to find him, that was more complicated.
River had all the time she could want, in her comfortable hospital bed, to think it through. What couldn't the Doctor stay away from?
And the answer slowly came.
History.
Well. Then nobody would know history - all of it, past, present, and future - better than her. It couldn't be more simple, really.
She was just looking for a good man.
Archaeology it was.
Anything Else:
No, I think I'm good. She's brand new and shiny, so no backstory, and ALL the stars!
