At TESC, you either pass a class or you don't (all you need to do to pass is to attend every class and turn in all the homework and participate in the workshops and seminars, etc), and that's as much as is needed for prerequisites...
However, HOW WELL you did in class isn't a letter grade, it's narrative. Instead of just saying "you got a C" or "You get an A", the teacher writes a short description of how you did during the quarter, citing any problems you had, and how you improved over the quarter. It's put in your permanent record, and it's a lot more nerve-wracking than just getting a letter distilled from scores.

My school uses Narrative Grading instead of Letter Grades, so I'm not gonna get to say that anytime in the next two years. :-(
