I don't think it could possibly flop... well not Mission Impossible 3 flop anyways!

I think enough people have read the book and would like to see how it transposes into film (that's me for example)... and then I think there are enough people that heard about the hype of the book but are too lazy to read and therefore always thought "I'll wait until they turn it into a movie"
