Since libraries are now throwing print books away regardless of age or value, I propose a solution. Change the indexing system to allow remote location indexing and donate the books to the care of any and all patrons who will promise to provide shelf space for whatever editions the library was going to destroy. The patrons volumes would be

Why not just transfer them to libraries that don't have some titles?
