Happy Dia De Los Muertos!

Best Moments in the past few days:

*Lauryn and Louisa throwing the best Halloween party I've ever been to. Their DJing skillz were like rivers of elegant liquid neon flowing straight to the pleasure centers of my brain.

*Carving the raddest pumpkin in the world at work with my fellow Canihelpyous.

Thanks, amigo! Working at an art supply store helps when you want to make your pumpkin shiny (high-gloss varnish) and create outlines and blackened edges (black and brown fine-tipped markers.)

I love the pumpkin! How did you do it? Did you do it at work?
;-)
I made a lot of tasty food last night (mole, saffron rice, veggies, and cheese enchiladas..with some help of course!) for day of the dead and poured some wine for them too...it was nice but unfortunately the backdrop of the scene was the election. Dread. Another four years?
I think we need to erect our Bush Head soon...or make Bush pin~atas...
I need to be productive tonight...
Glad you're having fun!
Take care!

We carved it in the usual manner, then coated it with a high gloss varnish. Nick blackened all the edges of the openings with a black marker then i accentuated that with lots of lines using a brown marker. Glad you like it!

Bush head pin~atas! Let's do it.

I've been working on paper masks...on and off...so a Bush head pinata isn't a problem.
It will be theraputic!

My artistic energy has been hit or miss...do you have a spell for me?

I did start a tiny skeleton mariachi mixed media piece though...he's drying...I add layers of oil pastel spray it off, scrape into it and add more layers...the first layer was a gouache wash.
I need to do more though.
I am feeling a little frustrated.
I did get a sketchbook though.
And I drew in it with pastels...chalk pastels...the things that I've been avoiding...
