An actual greeting, Gan Ning knew he liked the youngest member of their group for a reason. He returned Lu Xun's nod and a smirk to the other, for no obvious particular reason than to possibly annoy. Like the others, he himself took his turn to study their Commander again but in a decidedly less awestruck manner and at rather different details. There was a shadow and he had a chin, and though Gan Ning had thought to check it earlier there was no way he was going to actually reach out and do so. There were just some things that shouldn't be done.

"So it is true…" He did not finish his sentence, and there was no need to. There was nearly a list of questions that Gan Ning wanted to ask to satisfy his curiosity, but it seemed to be neither the time nor the place to. Instead, he clapped his fist to his palm and offered a respectable salute - which all but lasted for a moment before he resumed his original lazed posture.

"Let's get off the streets before we start chatting, hey?"

Zhou Yu was, in all honesty, just as much surprised by his comrades' reactions as they were of his apparent resurrection. He had not been sure himself what to make of this new life he had been gifted; after all, one does not normally get whisked away into a strange new world in a blink of an eye while in being in their deathbed. Admittedly, and embarrassingly, Zhou Yu recalled wondering if his previous life had been a dream, if only because he could not begin to comprehend the sudden restoration of his health. That had been foolish on his part, he knew now, because Wu, and Sun Ce, the war and the goals that they had had were his life... it was simply not right of him to think otherwise ( ... )

It was true, to speak over the bustle of the crowd was no way for them to conduct this reunion. Ling Tong nodded slightly, gathering himself again, and placed a hand on Boyan’s shoulder lightly even though he was certain the younger man didn’t really need it.

“Boyan and I have stayed at an inn the past few nights. The dining room there should be a good place to sit down and figure things out.” Ling Tong could use a hot cup of tea even it wasn’t the same as the type he would indulge in back home. Boyan could use a chair probably, judging by the faint quiver in his voice. Gan Ning could eat something that didn’t talk. Taking care of all that first would be worthwhile considering how much there was that the commander would no doubt want to hear about.

The hand on his shoulder was comforting, steadying him, reminding of the time and place. He tilted his head to the side and offered his friend a small smile of gratitude before turning back to the rest of his comrades.

Lu Xun then inclined his head forward in assent, especially at what Gongji had said. The inn was a quiet place, then again it seemed most were more accustomed to the fancier ones and left the inn that reminded them most of home. "It's not far from here," he added, "shall we go?"

Zhou Yu nodded wordlessly in agreement, and prepared to follow Boyan. He could not help but be proud of the younger man; truly, and from what Boyan had told him the other day, he had grown to become someone greater than even Zhou Yu himself.

It made me him feel a bit wistful about his own fate. To have died before the land could be united under the banner of Wu... but, he corrected himself for allowing such thoughts to invade his mind. He had done all that he could with the time he had been bestowed upon by the heavens, and that was all that mattered. Regrets... Sun Ce would not wish for him to have those.
