Oh! Today started simply enough, but has turned into a wreck of a day that I'm not going to forget any time soon. It's 1:30am, and I've just returned from an animal hospital, where my cats are now staying, hooked up to tubes. They have maybe been poisoned by tiger lilies, a very very bad thing to be poisoned by. Just breathing in the pollen can ( Read more... )

And then,” he said, “one of my friends came up to me in the hall and gave me a stick of gum. And you know, I think that gum saved my life.”

So. What otherwise insignificant events have changed your life the way the gift of a stick of gum changed his? You can tell the story or leave it a mystery. The exercise in imagination will do us good.

Some of the stories are rather lovely. I wish you and your beloveds all the best and will keep you in my thoughts.

Not sure it's the sort of thing to appeal to everyone but, I think it's lovely at least. I can probably dig up some other lovely things.

I'm so, so sorry about your kitties, this post kind of breaks my heart. I adore my cat beyond all that is healthy, I can't imagine how I would be feeling if she were poisoned. I'm sending prayers and good thoughts in your direction, lots of them. And that's incredible, what your friends will do for you. You are so very lucky.

Thank you for the prayers ♥ and for the Adrienne Rich poems. I feel like she's one of those poets that I always say I'm going to read more and then never do, and this has prompted me to get into her.

Thank you for this! I've been reading through it, and it's really absorbing. Like PostSecret, but with more depth.

Alas, I can't think of a lovely little poem or distracting story or image to share at the moment. I can only think of tender wings enfolding your cats, protecting them (not that I'm sure cats would exactly like this state of affairs)..and I picture them coming home in glowing health.

===Blessings on your felines, may they recover..., and may gardens that have these things be shielded/shielding from doing this to others...as I would rather have their gardens disinclined from harming others..(smiles)

Oh, dear. I'm sure hope your kitties will be fine.
And how wonderful of your friends to help you like that, you are truly lucky.

When I have to keep my mind occupied and I don't know what to do, I go on The Endicott Studio Archive and read poems and articles and short stories about myths and fairytales and I try to engulfe myself in the stories and to seep up the magic.
Also, I look at silly videos on youtube or watch tv shows that could be considered silly and cheesy.

I hope everything is well soon.
xx
